This weekend has in many ways reminded me of the novel Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog) by J. K. Jerome, which is by the way a very popular book in the Czech Republic. However, there are some deviations, one man was thrown overboard and the dog was present each day only at both the starting and ending point. All the participants thoroughly enjoyed breathtaking & dynamic landscape scenery around the river Vltava in the area of Orlík reservoir. One of them, naturally the one thrown into water, has already merged with the river to a much larger extent, he even caresses with it at some moments, and let others taking photos with the river & him. Yet he was somehow afraid of penetrating into its depths and got acquainted only with the stuff at its surface. Apart from several plastic bottles, packings from “miňonky” cookies, saturated pieces of wood, algae, both dead & living fish, it was in particular about fishermen on the river banks, and retired captains and enthusiastic sportsmen and sportswomen in motorboats & yachts. Those who mediate the communication were the two left in the boat. During this weekend I have transmitted to Paul messages from both male and female fans, showed thumbs up, and remained reticent about words mentioning “the fool who should have rather gone for an excellent Budweiser beer instead of swimming such a long distance in such shitty water.”
I am looking forward to following days in the boat. It is a truly loveable Vltava adventure with an air of good old England.
