Greetings from Orlik reservoir. I'm sitting on the veranda of the cottage just in shorts enjoying the weather and surroundings. It's very pretty here but I'm going to write more about this on Saturday.
We started today in Týn nad Vltavou and from beginning to end I kept an average speed of 4.1km per hour. It's taken a few days for me to feel that the daily preparation is a standard ritual and that I'm really "in it". Yesterday I couldn't set the same tempo because there were too many hurdles: dam, weir and shallow water. Today I immediately set a comfortable, automatic tempo which I am able to maintain for a few hours. Not even a weir was able to throw me off. I also have the feeling that my style is better: I'm rolling and reaching more meaning that I'm going further with each stroke. It's become routine but in a good way. I managed 10.8 km today in 2 hours 37 minutes.
The hardest part for me is always the first kilometre, before my muscles are fully warmed up. I stretch a lot but it still takes a while before I can't feel my tight muscles any more.
I came to the start of Orlik reservoir today and it'll take the next 5 days to swim through it!
