Albert Einstein byl člověk vyhraněných názorů. Boha viděl v řádu, ve kterém je uspořádán vesmír, tento řád se mu promítal ve všem, co zkoumal. K ateismu zaujal rovněž zcela specifický postoj.
Takže - co Albert Einstei pravil k ateistům? Čtěte:
In view of such harmony in the cosmos which I, with my limited human understanding, am able to recognize, there are yet people who say there is no God. But what really makes me angry is that they quote me for the support of such views.

Z pohledu takové harmonie vesmíru, kterou jsem se svým omezeným lidským porozumněním schopen rozpoznat, jsou zde dokonce i lidé, kteří praví že Bůh není. Ale co mě opravdu naštve je to, že mě citují na podporu takových názorů.
I was barked at by numerous dogs who are earning their food guarding ignorance and superstition for the benefit of those who profit from it. Then there are the fanatical atheists whose intolerance is of the same kind as the intolerance of the religious fanatics and comes from the same source. They are like slaves who are still feeling the weight of their chains which they have thrown off after hard struggle. They are creatures who—in their grudge against the traditional "opium of the people"—cannot bear the music of the spheres. The Wonder of nature does not become smaller because one cannot measure it by the standards of human moral and human aims.

Štěkal jsem s mnohými psy, kteří si vydělali svůj pokrm střežíce ignoraci a pověru ve prospěch těch, kteří z to ho profitují. Tak jsou zde také fanatičtí ateisté jejichž netolerance je toho samého druhu, jako netolerance náboženských fanatiků a pochází z toho samého zdroje. Jsou jako otroci kteří stále cítí okovy svých řetězů, které setřásají po těžkém boji. Jsou to stvoření, která v jejich nevraživosti proti tradičnímu "opiu lidí" nemohou přijmout hudbu sfér. Zázrak přírody se nestane menším, protože nemůže být měřen prostřednictvím standardů lidské morálky a lidskými cíly.

Úzkoprsost nevěřícího je pro mě téměř stejně směšná, jako úzkoprsost věřícího.
