Because of respect of ourselves

Because of respect of ourselves we must not let the Turkish statesmen to offend us any longer, the German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier screamed desperately at the beginning of this year, some time in the spring.

Each person with average morals would probably think that the German state-runners really do not let the Turkish President and his flunkies offend them in the way that does not have and must not have had any support in any culture.

Not a hope, Erdogan knows them and he knows them better than we do and knows that if there is money involved in the game, some European leaders can even be spit in their faces! That is what he really did, not only him, but also his minions and hi Turkish “press” serving as Erdogan’s loudspeaker!

He described Angela Merkel as a person who is even worse than Hitler was! And then he appealed to the Turks living in Germany to vote neither for CDU/CSU or SPD or the Green or even for die Linke. That’s how Erdogan wanted to destabilize Germany in a cunning way. Before the election in Germany his media claimed they would destabilize the Federal Republic of Germany like they had done it in the Netherlands. The Netherlands dared not to let Erdogan’s ministers speak in public before the election in the country.

 “Just see, they have not been able to establish the Government up to now as we did not take part in the elections in the Netherlands!” Erdogan kept saying. They used the same tactics in Germany, which is in another NATO member country, and the result is: on one hand they enabled AFD to gain more votes and on the other hand the reigning parties have lost so many votes that it is not easy for them to form the Government.  After the German elections Erdogan congratulated himself and his compatriots on the success in destabilization of the democratic election and thus the whole state system, too, in Germany as well as in the Netherlands.

The commonly known fact is that a radical party or a "movement" of a particular democratic country has always been used to destabilize the country. The same tactics were used by the Soviet Union during the Cold War against the Western countries, secretly supporting even the ultra-right parties in Germany itself.

Erdogan's army in Germany has gone so far as to threaten even the wife of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sigmar Gabriel herself, who for fear of despair had to address the mass media to reveal that she was threatened ... Was the German state unable to protect her so she had to turn to the media? Probably not ….

And what about now?
Because of respect for himself, respect for his wife’s security, respect for the democratic system, respect for human ethics, Sigmar Gabriel appears suddenly in the Turkish city of Antalya unofficially to beg Erdogan’s Foreign Minister on his knees for reconciliation with Germany ? To ask them not to threaten Germany? To stop bothering and cursing the German?  To release the innocent German journalists from prison,  to reprieve them? To stop defaming and slandering German companies operating in Turkey, such as Mercedes, stop shaming their names and blame them of supporting terrorism? And all that at the moment when his mandate ends and he will not be the foreign minister any more!

Is that the respect of a dignified politician bearing the mission of democratic principles, or just one of the helmsmen on the sinking Titanic that, for a long time,  has not been concerned about any luxury of honors or ethics, but about survival only?
